Civil Society and Ecology Project
Civil society organizations and social movements are driving forces of democratization and ecological sustainability. This research project investigates the effectiveness and institutional characteristics of environmental civil society organizations and environmental movements in the Aegean region of Turkey from a historical perspective. Its principal purpose is to establish a database of all environmental movements and environmental civil society organizations in the Aegean region. A further aim of this project is to identify the contestation vs. collaboration-based relationships of these movements and organizations with diverse stakeholders and to examine how such networks shape the relevant organizational fields including renewable energies, food and agriculture in the region.
The research project is undertaken thanks to a Yasar University research grant.
