Seminar: A Psychoanalytic Approach to Turkish Foreign Policy: Crisis, Disorder and Disorientation

Yaşar University Center for Mediterranean Studies will organize an online seminar titled “A Psychoanalytic Approach to Turkish Foreign Policy: Crisis, Disorder and Disorientation” on April 26, 2024, between 19:00-20.30 will be given by Assist.Prof. Umut Can Adısönmez. The seminar will be held in English and broadcast live on our Center’s Youtube channel.

Assist.Prof. Umut Can Adısönmez is a faculty member at Izmir University of Economics, Department of Political Science and International Relations. Adısönmez, who received his PhD in International Relations from the University of Kent, worked as a Guest Lecturer at City, University of London (2019-2021) and Assistant Lecturer at the University of Kent (2017-2021) before joining Izmir University of Economics. worked. Adısönmez was awarded the “Vice Chancellor Scholarship” (2017-2020) to carry out his doctoral project. His master’s program in Global Studies at Lund University was awarded with the “Lund University Global Scholarship” (2016-2017). Adısönmez received a bachelor’s degree from Bilkent University’s Department of International Relations and a minor in History at the same university. Adısönmez’s main research areas are the emotions literature in IR; political psychology; ethnicity and identity; conflict analysis; and Middle East politics. His most recent work has been published in international peer-reviewed journals such as Political Psychology, Southeast European and Black Sea Studies, Critical Studies on Security, Alternatives: Global, Local, Political, Middle East Critique, International Relations and Asian Politics & Policy. Adısönmez is a member of the editorial board of the journal titled Alternatives: Global, Local, Political.
